China has begun building a huge hydropower dam on the Brahmaputra river, close to the Arunachal Pradesh border, according to PTI citing Chinese state media. This project, said to be the world’s largest hydropower plant, has raised worries for downstream countries like India and Bangladesh. The dam is expected to cost around $167.8 billion (Rs 14.46 lakh crore).
